For the first time Riga International Curling Challenge 2024 wins Katrīna Gaidule, Daina Barone, Betija Gulbe and Sabīne Jeske – congratulations!
Team LAT from Latvia wins Riga International Curling Challenge with 5-0 win-loss record. In the opening game latvians who get together from 2 different teams beat team Hronova from Czehia 11:1. Then in the evening game they won team SKOB/Dompalma-Linuža 13:1. On Saturtday the last round robin game they won Kaunas CC from Lithuania with result 10:7. Semi-final game is against Latvian National senior ladies SKOB/Kāpostiņa. Team LAT are stronger with result 7:4. And in the final we have a duel between mother’s and daughter’s teams. Team LAT with Daina Barone as a skip has once again amazing game and beat with result 9:3. Unstoppable team this weekend!
Katrīna Gaidule after the tournament: “Happy for the win whith such a line-up for the first time. Despite that we adapt quickly and also for the ice conditions. We tried to enjoy every game and the atmosphere of the event. That helped us to achieve good result. Thank you organizers for the great event.”
Second place goes to team JKK/Barone (Latvia 1) with 4-1 win-loss record.
Team Hronova (Czehia) gets third place with record 3-2. The skip Lenka Hronova after the tournament: “We are very happy to be part of this years Riga International Curling Challenge. It was the first time for our team but for sure not the last. The ice conditions were great and the effort of the whole organizing crew was so amazing – they had an answer or a solution to everything. The event was nicely prepared, we felt well informed all the time and and we had a really great time in Riga!”
All eight teams play round-robin games and teams are ranked by points, head to head result and DSC if necessary. Then best two of each group continue the event in the semi-final.
