Karoliine Kaare and Harri Lill from Estonia wins WCT Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup II of season 2021/2022 – CONGRATULATIONS!
There were 16 teams in the field from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Belgium. All teams were divided in 4 groups and after round-robin games best two teams from each group kept fighting for the podium.
K.Kaare / H.Lill (EST) reached final with two wins and one loss in the round-robin game against L.Avena / A.Avotiņš (LAT). In the semifinal team met D.Barone / A.Veidemanis from Latvia. After two steals in the fourth and fifth end Karoliine and Harri didn’t lost control of the game and it was 8:6 in favour of Kaare / Lill. In the final Estonian team played against J.Zelingrova / V.Chabicovsky from Czech Republic. The game was tight until a huge mistake from Czech Republic team’s side on the last rock of the 7th end when Kaare / Lill got their big 5 points and won the game with 9:4.
After the game H.Lill thanked the ice makers for the best ice in last two years in Riga. He also thanked teams who were coming not only from Baltic States but also from other countries to this tournament. And at the end he encourage young Czech Republic team to look forward and forget about the bad shots that sometimes happen.
Two Latvian teams met in the bronze game: D.Barone / A.Veidemanis against I.Rudzīte / A.Zentelis. The game didn’t last long. It was not the right day for team Rudzīte / Zentelis and they shook the hands after 4 ends were played.
Good luck for Czech Republic team in World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Geneve, Switzerland and we hope to see every team on the participants list next year!
