Eirin Mesloe and Wilhelm Naess from Norway wins WCT Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup I of season 2022/2023 – CONGRATULATIONS!
There were teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Norway in the field. All teams were divided in 2 groups and after round-robin games best three teams from each group kept fighting for the podium.
E.Mesloe / W.Naess (NOR) finished with no losses in the round-robin games and well deserved place directly to semi-final. In the semifinal team met D.Regža / A.Regža from Latvia. Norway team played solid game and after 5 ends the results was already 7:1. Latvians took back 3 points but it wasn’t enough and norwegians. In the final Norway team played again against E.Regža / R.Freidensons from Latvia. The second end was the key of the game when Eirin and Wilhelm took 5 points. Evita and Renārs tried to improve their shots but not this time. Eirin and Wilhelm won the game with result 8:3.
After the game W.Naess thanked for the good ice and every team for the interesting games with extra ends.
Dace and Ansis from Latvia and Triin and Karl from Estonia met in the bronze game: D.Regža / A.Regža against T.Madisson / K.Kukner. As the game in the round-robin this one also finished with an extra end. After a decent lead 5th end 8:3 estonians lost a control of the game and the extra end should be played. Playing with hammer Triin and Karl managed to get one point and to win the third place.
Good luck for some teams in qualification event for World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship and we hope to see every team on the participants list next year!
