Tori Koana and Go Aoki from Japan wins WCT Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup II of season 2023/2024 – CONGRATULATIONS!
There were teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Japan in the field. All teams were divided in 2 groups and after round-robin games best three teams from each group kept fighting for the podium.
T.Koana / G.Aoki (JPN) finished round-robin with no losses and earned the spot directly in the semi-final. Team from Japan played semi-final against team from Lithuania M.Jurkute / P.Rymeikis. Tori and Go controled the game and won it after 6 ends. The final was in favor of Japan team. After 3 points in the first end Tori and Go didn’t allow latvians Līga and Aivars to get close and after 6 ends the winner was decided.
After the final game Tori Koana thanked organizers and icemakers. The team just arrived in Europe after tour in Canada and the ice conditions was better than in Canada. This was the first event in Europe for team.
Game for bronze was intense. After first 3 ends M.Jurkute and P.Rymeikis controled the game 4:1 but then they lost the control of the game. A.Rykove / K.Rykov got a point and after that stole 4 ends in the row and won the game.
Good luck for Lithuanian teams in the National championship and safe trip home to everybody.
