Karolina Jensen and Alexander Qvist from Denmark wins WCT Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup II of the season 2025/2026 – CONGRATULATIONS!
There were teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Denmark and Italy in the field. All teams were divided in 4 groups and after round-robin games best two teams from each group kept fighting for the podium.
K.Jensen / A.Qvist (DEN) finished round-robin with a loss to Ukraine deaf team D.Kobylianska / M.Pleskanka and earned the spot in the quarter-final. Denmark team won K.Yakymets / H.Stasiuk (UKR) in the quarter-final with results 9:3. K.Jensen / A.Qvist played semi-final against team from Latvia D.Regža / A.Regža. Karolina and Alexander controlled all the game and won it after 5 ends with the score 9:0. In the final the Danish team met against team from Italy Giorgia Maurino and two times olimpian Simone Gonin. Danish players didn’t allow italians to have more than 1 point in the winning end and finished the final with the result 9:3.
After the final game Alexander Qvist said : “Thank you to all of the officials, time keepers, ice makers, people in the bar, people organizing! It was very smooth tournament! It was nice! If you told me 10 days ago that I would here I didn’t believe you. We tried to register, it was full tournament. But we are so happy that you wrote to us we could get a spot. Especially now I’m very happy that we took the chance. Thank you for all the opponents! Thank you for some good games and some nice talking and everything! And to Curling rink Kerlinga halle – thank you for having all the puzzles! I think we have made 10 or something. Thank you everyone and hope to see you again at some!”
Game for bronze was between two Latvian family teams D.Regža / A.Regža and L.Avena / A.Avotiņš. The first part of the game Līga and Aivars was managing better and the score after 4 ends 4:2. After that Dārta and Ansis didn’t allow opponents to take any points and won the game by the result 7:4.
